My initiator into philosophy

I am not a spiritual person, and to be franker, I have kind of vowed to be a critic of religion at all costs. But a few days ago, I realized something- I was criticizing something that I didn't know about; for, only when I know about the underlying ideals of something can I form a solid conclusion about it. So, I decided to start with a classic, and after reading, I realized that 'The Alchemist' was just that- a classic about spirituality and philosophy.

 I have read two books by Paulo Coelho before, so I thought I had a good idea about what to expect. But this work surpassed the others, in terms of how the intended message of the book was delivered. Each anecdote shared, and each message related is worth remembering. The ideas put forward by the author about destiny- the fact that we live only for our destiny, and wandering away makes a meaningless life- make one wonder what one's really doing.

I now want to explore more about philosophy; it sounds fun, something that can engage one even in lonely moments. I recommend this to everyone- I realize I say this for almost every book I come across, but I'm pretty sure this book will be of some use to everyone who reads it.

Life-Changing Lakeside Epiphanies

When the word 'lake' is uttered, it conjures up pictures of picturesque expanses of blue water, skies with cotton-candy clouds, the bright but welcoming sunshine, reeds in the fringes with butterflies and birds, and probably the occasional fisherman cottage along the way around the lake. Well, it's common knowledge now that this image is far from the reality- 'Smart City' projects in Coimbatore have replaced the grass-laden fringes with concrete pathways, and the occasional fishing cottage replaced with chaat offering tea shops and ice cream stops in some lakes, and many more lakes to come.  My recent visit to Kurichi Kulam , one of the numerous lakes of Coimbatore, was a whole new experience. Not like I’ve never visited lakes before for birdwatching, but this one just hit home in a very unique way. Tomorrow

  So many expect; So many hope So many desire and dream, Tomorrow waits, slowly arrives- A ship of marvels agleam. “Everything will get better, all will be good Next morning will be perfectly fine; People will forget all their grudges, And lovely things are just waiting to be mine.” (Future chuckles) Tomorrow‘s not gonna be any better, love. It’ll be the same toil and tire Haters will hate, ventures will fail, And stakes shall soar ever higher Trudging through fabled, magical, wonderful tomorrow, You will groan, heave, cry, sigh, maybe even shatter ’Well, that was one horrible day,’ you will then think, ’But tomorrow, I know, will be “happily ever after”.’ PS. Great ideas strike at midnight. In a half-dazed state of consciousness, works like this one, I think, might be the catharsis of the subconscious, so I have taken care not to alter the contents of the first draft when I upload this poem.
